Local History Liaison

Background

The Questionnaire below is to learn of your requirements for a successful presentation. It also allows us to publicise your talk to members and be aware of other issues that may impact us. Over the years, we have hosted a wide range of speakers, hence the broad spectrum of questions, some of which may not be relevant to your visit.

Facilities available

Ideally, you will use your own laptop, the HDMI output of which we will connect to the projector.

Alternatively, we can plug a USB-A or USB-C memory stick in to our Windows 11 laptop, this has a cordless remote slide advance function for the presentation.

If you have ‘everything on your phone or tablet’, ideally please bring a cable convertor with an HDMI socket on it, or let us know if we need to supply one (and advise your phone/tablet type, and the connector it has).

We use a handheld ‘stick’ mic., feeding the wall speakers and ‘hearing loop’ (for hearing aid wearers), therefore you will need to use our microphone.

We can supply a chair, table, plus a lectern. The floor is flat in front of the screen (see photo below questionnaire).

The hall is equipped with a kitchen, from which we will serve refreshments after your presentation. There are also toilets (Ladies, Gents and Disabled) and a small adjacent car park.

On the day

If using your own laptop, it would make sense to bring the necessary files on a memory stick as a backup. If using our laptop, we advise you bring two USB sticks, just in case one fails.

Internet access is available if required.

We request you arrive by 13:30 (aka 1-30pm) latest, so we can sort things out ahead of a 14:00 start. We ask how you are travelling, and where from, so we can be assimilate any local issues that might affect your journey. The e-mail that sent you the link to this page contains a mobile number you can contact us on the day in case of breakdown or delays en-route.

Thank you in advance for completing the questionnaire below and we look forward to seeing you next month.
