National Trust group visit Standen House – 2025

By | June 24, 2025

What a great time 40 of our members had visiting Standen House on 14 May !!! The weather was great for our coach trip to the Arts and Crafts house, situated south of East Grinstead.

Standen House was passed to the National Trust in 1972 from the Beale family and the house was constructed with sandstone quarried from the Estate.

On arrival we had a very interesting introductory talk from our guide Roger before we toured the house. It is a lovely property with the interior decorated with William Morris carpets, fabrics, wallpaper and furnishings, and we were even treated by a volunteer to some terrific piano playing as we walked into the front of the house !!!

There was an excellent café and NT shop and many of our party treated themselves to the lovely plants on sale, together with prints and items from an exhibition within the house. There were even some deck chairs laid out on the lawn for us to bask in the sun !!! A wonderful visit and a perfect day !!!
