April: a circumnavigation of Bray Lake
On 3rd April, the u3a Amblers group enjoyed a 3.1 km (almost 2 mile) amble around Bray Lake on a beautiful spring morning. After the walk, refreshments were taken at the watersport centre’s cafe, where the resident Egyptian geese and fluffy goslings kept us entertained.
May: Rhododendrons and Cow Pond
On the 1st May, we took a gentle stroll along the path from Savill Garden’s car park to Cow Pond, then returned via the decorative trees, as logged in members can see on the map.
The route was about 2.9 km, or one and three quarter miles.
This was followed by a nice quiet coffee in the Savill Garden Restaurant ahead of their lunchtime rush. The cafe was very busy, so fitting our group’s 10 members together would have been impossible.
June: exploring Sunningdale and Coworth Park
I am grateful to group member Jane for leading this extended amble on 12th June. We delayed a week for better weather than was forecast for our usual first-Thursday date.
Sadly, I only took one panoramic photo during the 6.5 km, 4-mile, amble. This showing an area that was razed to the ground in the forest fire 4-5 years ago.

For the second half of the amble, we crossed the A30 and took the bridlepath to Coworth Park, cutting across to Whitmore Lane on a public footpath between the polo club areas. Logged in members can see a map of our route.
The distance was somewhat longer and route more challenging than we’re used to, most were grateful to be seated at Fego for refreshments afterwards.
