Members visit various garden locations, with National Trust gardens topping the list. Local private gardens that take part in the National Garden Scheme are also popular. Participating gardens raise money for nursing charities and promote the mental and physical benefits of gardens. Outings usually end with tea and cake.

Because of the friendly group’s success in finding 910 caches in the local area, members are starting to travel a little further afield than Windsor environs. They lift-share and may have lunch/coffee afterwards. Caching usually involves walking 3-5 miles and you must have the Geocaching App.

Mah-jong is a game that originated in China and is played like card games only using pretty ivory tiles instead of playing cards. It is a game of both chance and skill. New members are welcome. Previous knowledge of the game is not necessary.

Every group member is required to prepare an introductory paper on a dilemma or topical question which our society is facing. This requires looking at the history and philosophy pertaining to the subject. It also means that the person presenting needs to find about five questions to ensure a focus in the discussion. These can become deep explorations into today’s problems.

The normal format is: projected slideshow of near future and recent past events, at 14:00 the master of ceremonies makes a few announcements, then introduces our guest speaker. Rummikub is a tile-based game similar to the card based Rummy: you try to get rid of your tiles by forming numbers into runs or forming three to four of a kind. Your game may start uneventfully, but when players start putting more tiles in play, the options become complex, challenging and exciting.
