Stonor House and Park; history by Karen Townsend
Stonor House has been the Stonor family’s residence for 850 years making it one of the oldest family homes still lived in today. St Edmund Campion was given refuge here in 1581 and you can still see the priest hole where he hid. Its parkland was home to a prehistoric stone circle and one stone remains in the wall of the chapel.
Karen Townsend is a guide at Stonor and will tell us more about the fascinating history of this house.
