Exploring London – May-June 2024

By | July 7, 2024

Explore London 1 Diana took us to ‘Chelsea in Bloom’ which coincided with the Chelsea Flower Show. We enjoyed the amazing displays of plants and flowers and all agreed it would have to be a firm fixture for next year’s calendar.

Adele and Alan led a second trip to Clapham, this time focussing on the Common. We learnt about its past connexions to Highwaymen and more recently the conversion of underground tunnels from air raid shelters to food processing plants.

Finally, we explored the back streets and passages of Charing Cross and Whitehall where we learnt about spies, tanks and Plimsoll lines amongst other things.

We enjoyed a visit to the Household Cavalry Museum which brought back memories of a previous visit to Combermere Barracks in Windsor.
